In 2025, tourism in Portugal reached new all-time highs across the main indicators, with 82 million overnight stays (year-on-year: +2.1 per cent), 32.5 million guests (+2.8 per cent) and €29.1 billion in revenue (+5.0 per cent).
Almost seven out of every ten overnight stays were by non-residents, mainly from Europe (share: 73.5 per cent); approximately 50 per cent of overnight stays were concentrated in the Greater Lisbon and Algarve regions; and six out of every ten were in hotels, followed by private accommodation (15.0 per cent).
The five main source markets for Portugal, in terms of overnight stays, are the same as the previous year: the United Kingdom (share: 17.7 per cent), Germany (11.3 per cent), the USA (9.6 per cent), Spain (9.1 per cent) and France (7.4 per cent), with the USA and Spain swapping positions.
With regard to the main profitability indicators, there was also an increase, particularly in total revenue (year-on-year change: +6.9%) and accommodation revenue (+6.6%).
As for airport traffic indicators, the year-on-year increase of +4.7 per cent in the number of passengers disembarking (36 million) is particularly noteworthy.
