Wizz Air is strengthening its presence in the Italian market with six new routes from Milan-Malpensa, Venice, Rome-Fiumicino and Naples, scheduled to start operations in December. The plan also includes the arrival of a twelfth Airbus A321neo aircraft at the Lombardy base, the start of operations in Cagliari and the expansion of its domestic and international air network.
The new routes will connect Milan-Malpensa to Berlin, Cagliari and Tromsø; Venice-Marco Polo to Cagliari; Rome-Fiumicino to Santiago de Compostela; and Naples-Capodichino to Hurghada. Overall, the expansion aims to strengthen connectivity between northern, central and southern Italy and the islands, complementing domestic routes with new destinations across Europe and the Mediterranean region.
The main investment is concentrated in Milan-Malpensa, where the number of aircraft-based will reach twelve from mid-December. The new A321neo aircraft will allow the airline to create around 40 direct jobs and support more than 350 indirect jobs. In 2026, Wizz Air will offer 5.6 million seats from this airport — an increase of 21% compared to the previous year — spread over 55 routes to 24 countries.
This new capacity will enable the launch of a daily service to Berlin and two daily flights to Cagliari from 14 December, while Tromsø will be connected twice a week from 15 December. The expansion follows the recent introduction of new flights from Malpensa to Santander, Zaragoza, Porto, Agadir, Lamezia Terme and other destinations.

With these announced investments, Wizz Air reaffirms Italy's central role in its network. The airline operates 329 routes to 33 countries from the country, with 45 aircraft based and a capacity of more than 32 million available seats. Since the beginning of the year, approximately 66,000 flights have been carried out — an increase of 25% compared to the same period in 2025.
