Volotea is reducing its winter program in Europe, including at French regional airports, to respond to rising fuel costs and debt burdens. According to data cited by the professional press, the company has already eliminated more than 10% of the planned capacity between November and February.
Bordeaux may register up to 35% fewer flights from the company, while Lyon and Brest also face reductions. Volotea plans to reduce its fleet from 44 to 30 to 35 aircraft and renegotiate between 250 and 300 million euros of debt by the end of December. The company seeks to concentrate resources on the most resilient connections and markets with less competition.
The changes already communicated to passengers include cancellations and schedule changes. For agencies and operators, it is important to regularly check bookings on regional routes served by Volotea and to prepare routing alternatives when a connection is reduced or suspended.
