The German Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt – UBA) has published a new catalogue of criteria to identify truly sustainable hotels in the field of government business travel. The document sets out 31 mandatory requirements and recognizes only five certifications that fully comply with the new standards, including the EU Ecolabel and the EarthCheck. Although developed for the federal administration, the model could become a reference for companies that intend to integrate sustainability criteria into business travel management.
