Tourism in Germany recorded moderate growth at the beginning of the year, driven mainly by domestic travellers. In March, hotels and tourist accommodation accounted for 33.6 million overnight stays, 3.1% more than in the same period last year.
The increase was supported by German tourists, while overnight stays by foreign visitors fell slightly. In the first quarter as a whole, the total number of overnight stays also grew, but was below the record reached in 2024. The data show that the sector remains heavily dependent on domestic demand.
