Sector advocates for more affordable hotels to keep holidays within everyone's reach

10 August 2026

The tourism sector warns of the lack of affordable accommodation in the main holiday destinations, at a time when rising prices continue to make it difficult for many families to access travel. Although several tour operators are reinforcing the offer of budget hotels, experts argue that the problem lies in the shortage of three-star units, since the investment in recent years has favored four and five-star hotels. Data from Check24 show an increase in demand for three-star hotels in destinations such as Kos, Rhodes and Gran Canaria, reinforcing the need to expand the offer in the economic segment.
