Once again, August is the favorite month for Italians for vacations, or at least that's what data from Travilioo, an Italian platform specializing in personalized travel, indicates. The company recorded a 23% increase in searches and bookings for vacation packages compared to July.
National destinations are in particularly high demand among Italian tourists compared to international ones: seven out of ten prefer to stay in Italy (72%), while only three have opted for destinations abroad.
Most Italians who choose to spend their holidays within the country will reach their destinations by car; 65% will travel this way, rather than using a train, bus or plane, covering relatively short distances from their homes.
Italians continue to choose hotels for accommodation (48%) — despite rising prices — over apartments (26%) or holiday homes and family homes (18%). Beach destinations (62%) are the most popular choice, followed by cities (20%) and mountains (16%).
