Germans still want to travel, but safety weighs more in the choices

Despite the conflict in the Middle East and rising travel costs, German tourists maintain a strong desire to travel in 2026. Studies by Allianz Partners and Europ Assistance show that safety has become one of the main criteria in the choice of destinations, even ahead of climate or leisure.

Interest in holidays within Germany and in European destinations considered more stable, such as Italy, Spain and Greece, is also growing. At the same time, travelers expect to spend more on vacation and increasingly turn to artificial intelligence to plan trips.
