Fuel prices threaten to make package travel more expensive in 2027

An analysis by >Neusta Travel Insights identifies two risks for German tour operators: dependence on too few airlines and less protection against rising kerosene prices. Despite the fact that the price of fuel has almost doubled since the start of the conflict in Iran, package travel prices remained relatively stable in the summer of 2026. However, offer prices are already 5.2% above the previous year for summer 2027. In addition, the airlines analysed have only 14% to 40% of fuel needs for that season protected by fixed-price contracts, increasing uncertainty about future costs and travel price developments.
