For a cooler "Ferragosto" holiday: mountain attracts 1.6 million Italians.

High temperatures are changing the geography of summer holidays. With hotter summers and more frequent heat waves, the demand for destinations that offer mild temperatures and outdoor activities is growing.

As a result, the mountains — traditionally the stars of the winter season — are consolidating themselves as a climate refuge for Italian summers. This trend is particularly evident in the Ferragosto holiday period (August 15) between August 14 and 17, with mountain destinations expected to register around 1.6 million visitor stays.
