EasyJet on strike in Portugal to cancel hundreds of flights at Christmas

18 September 2026

EasyJet crew members based in Portugal approved two strikes, in October and December, with a direct impact on the company's operation.

The first stoppage (2–6 October) may suspend around 500 flights departing/arriving at Lisbon, Porto and Faro airports. The second strike (19–23 December) takes place during the peak of Christmas travel, when the network operates with higher capacity and greater dependence on punctuality.

Capacity losses and cancellations have the potential to disrupt tourist demand and transfer passengers to transport alternatives or competing destinations, before any minimum service rules are defined.
