Cycling and hiking holidays continue to gain popularity

A study by Trends & Tourism reveals that cycling and hiking holidays continue to gain popularity among the Dutch. 26% consider taking a hiking trip in the next three years, while 23% consider a cycling holiday. Nature, contact with the outdoors and the discovery of new places are the main motivations for both types of holidays. Most travelers prefer to organize the trip on their own, although about 25% choose to use specialized tour operators. For trips abroad, Germany, Belgium and France are the preferred destinations for cycling holidays, while Austria, Switzerland, the Ardennes, Germany and Norway lead the preference for hiking holidays.
