The latest Boekingsmonitor from ANVR and NIQ reveals that 88.6% of Dutch summer holiday bookings are for European destinations, the highest share since the pandemic. The preference for Europe is driven by instability in other regions of the world, leading many travelers to exchange long-haul destinations for closer options, especially in the Mediterranean. Despite rising prices and economic uncertainty, 60% of travellers say these factors do not influence their holiday plans, with the average spend per trip abroad being around €3,000. Although bookings were made later than the previous year, travel intention remains high: 47% of Dutch people expect to book another trip abroad in the next three months, up from 45% last year.
