The 2024 edition received 1,120 valid responses from agents registered with the RNAAT (National Registry of Tourism Recreational Agents). Although the total number of active operators reached 11,690, the sample actually considered consisted of 7,408 agents in regular operation with no violations, to whom the survey was directed. The results have a maximum margin of error of ±2.9 percentage points, with a 95% confidence interval.
Tourism recreational activities continued to be dominated by small businesses, with 41.2% generating annual revenue of up to 50,000 euros. The majority of operators (76.1%) reported operating year-round, although seasonality remains significant: July, August, and September are the months with the highest demand. The most frequently mentioned activities were themed and heritage discovery routes (25.0%), guided tours (23.3%), maritime-tourism excursions (14.7%), and ethnographic heritage activities (12.5%). Programs lasting more than one day accounted for 49.1%, approaching the majority and showing an increase compared to 2018 (34.2%).
Adoption of sustainability practices remains limited: only 10.1% of companies reported holding any certification, and less than a quarter had implemented initiatives related to biodiversity or support for local communities.
In 2024, demand continued to be centered on individual customers (89.7%), with a decline in bookings made through agencies, accommodations, or organized groups. The most common age groups were 25–34 and 45–54, with an increase in the presence of the 55–64 age group. International demand once again accounted for the majority (65.8%), surpassing domestic demand in all regions except Centro. The most frequently mentioned markets were the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Spain, and France.
