United Airlines, one of the largest North American airlines, will launch 10 new international destinations starting in 2027, including a nonstop connection to Terceira, in the Azores. The routes depart from US hubs such as San Francisco, Washington Dulles and Newark, with start dates already set throughout 2027.

This bet increases the offer of direct flights to Europe and creates more access to Portugal via the archipelago, which can stimulate tourist demand. The airline will also use Airbus A321XLR aircraft to support several European connections, reinforcing capacity for new routes.
