Tourist tax: Italy collects €438 million in six months

Revenue from the tourist tax in Italy recorded double-digit growth in the first six months of this year, reaching €438 million — an increase of 13% compared to the same period in 2025. This expressive figure tells the JFC Observatory about the tourist tax, which highlights that the exponential growth in revenue — reaching 30% compared to the first half of 2024 — is driven by two factors: the increase in tourist arrivals in the last two years (+4%) and the significant growth in the number of tourist municipalities that have adopted the tax to bolster their coffers. Specifically, 1,411 municipalities have implemented the tax, an increase compared to about 1,200 two years ago.
