Although August remains the classic holiday month, an increasing number of Italians are choosing to postpone their trips. Studies by Ipsos Doxa and Confturismo Confcommercio/SWG indicate that more than 21% of Italians have planned their summer holidays for September, motivated by the desire for tranquility, lower prices, greater flexibility of schedule and a still favorable climate.
Data from the cozycozy app confirms this trend, highlighting a change in preferences compared to the August peak:
National destinations: Rome, Naples, Lampedusa and Sardinia lead the list, along with Puglia and Tuscany, which offer unique accommodation options.
International destinations: Demand for travel to European cities is increasing; Barcelona leads the searches (hostels), followed by Paris (aparthotels), Valencia and London (hotels).
According to Clio Stecca, Marketing & Communication Manager Italy at cozycozy for Italy: "While August remains the month of big beach holidays, September is increasingly becoming the time for different types of experiences — from the latest getaways to the Italian coast to trips to European cities. It's not just about saving money; those who travel in September are looking for more peace of mind, more freedom of choice and the opportunity to visit destinations when they are less crowded."
