An increasing number of Italians are choosing the month of September for their holidays. According to eDreams data, the most popular destinations are in the Mediterranean region, and seven out of ten bookings refer to short-haul trips: 23% have chosen destinations in Italy, 20% in Spain and 7% in France.
Data collected by eDreams and published by the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore show that, among Italians travelling in September, 28% have scheduled their departure for this week, 25% for the week of 6 September and 22% for the week of 13 September.
The majority of those who decided to take a vacation during this period — characterized by milder temperatures and less crowding — booked two to three months in advance (45%), while 38% booked more than three months in advance.
Regarding the duration of trips, 36% booked short stays of 3 or 4 days, while 25% opted for a longer period, 7 to 13 days...."
