For the All Saints holidays, which start on October 17, the holiday rental platform PAP Vacances registers a 12.5% drop in bookings compared to 2025. According to the platform, the French are partly giving up holidays because of the new rise in the price of gasoline, purchasing power under pressure and a climate of pessimism.
The drop contrasts with the summer, when PAP Vacances bookings had risen by 2.9% in July and August. The regions with sunshine, more distant for those living in the north of France and therefore more expensive in fuel, retreat: Côte d'Azur (-11%), Languedoc (-10.3%) and Vendée-Charente (-13.7%). On the other hand, territories close to the Paris region gain ground, such as Ille-et-Vilaine (+26.6%) and the North Channel (+20.8%). The coast concentrates 74% of orders, far ahead of abroad (9%) and the countryside (7%).
In travel agencies, physical and online, the decline is more moderate: according to Orchestra data, the number of bookings for departures at Todos os Santos drops by 3.2% compared to 2025, after a 2.6% drop in turnover last year. Operators and distributors are now betting on last-minute sales to catch up, which makes it important to communicate about air access and the total price of the trip to Portugal.
