Bookings for stays for July and August 2026 fell by 8% in the number of cases compared to the same period in 2025, with a 6.3% drop in turnover, according to data from the Orchestra platform reported on August 18.
France and Corsica recorded the largest decreases (-11%), followed by Greece (-10%). Spain is the exception among traditional destinations, with a growth of 2%. Last-minute sales were not enough to compensate for the spring drop, marked by the consequences of the war in the Middle East and the pressure on purchasing power.
In emerging destinations, Albania soars 277% and reaches 10th place in the ranking, with 34% more French visitors, for a total of 293,299 tourists. Morocco grows 3%. Conversely, Egypt loses 24%, the United States 32% and Turkey 34%, penalized by tensions in the Middle East, concerns associated with the Trump administration and high prices at home.
This summer's contrasting results confirm a change in the preferences of French tourists: traditional Mediterranean destinations lose attractiveness in favor of emerging Balkan destinations.
