The use of artificial intelligence in travel planning has increased from 9% in 2024 to 40% in 2026 in France, the highest figure in Europe, ahead of Germany and the United Kingdom. The United States has even higher adoption rates.
Trust, however, does not keep pace with adoption. AI-generated recommendations occupy only fourth place among sources of information (17% to 23%), behind advice from friends (42% to 53%), travel agents (33% to 42%) and reviews from other travelers (25% to 35%).
In France, 74% of travelers feel the need to verify the accuracy of AI-generated results, and among those considering using it to plan a trip, 40% want human validation before booking. Families with young children are the most enthusiastic segment, as they simplify complex logistics and save time.
Among North American travelers, AI is most likely to understand immediate context (39%), provide more accurate information (29%), simplify the booking process (28%) and track the entire trip in a single assistant (27%). Human expertise and verification of information remain key to building trust.
