Coolcation remains a niche in the German market

21 July 2026

Despite increasingly frequent heat waves, the demand for cooler destinations ("coolcation") continues to represent a niche in the German market. According to travel agents consulted by fvw|TravelTalk, some customers show greater interest in cruises in the Norwegian fjords, Scotland, Ireland, Greenland or Scandinavia, but the Mediterranean remains the main choice for summer holidays. The segment seems to be growing gradually, especially among travelers looking for experiences in nature and milder temperatures, without yet significantly changing demand patterns.
