Visa's analysis of card transactions shows that German tourists focus their spending mainly on accommodation (€162 per purchase), followed by excursions (€94), fashion (€66) and outdoor activities (€63). Duty free, leisure activities, museums, restaurants, local shops, souvenir shops and transport also represent a significant part of the expenses. Consumption patterns vary depending on the destination: in Croatia, outdoor activities stand out; in Greece, spending on restaurants predominates; in Turkey, fashion shopping; and, in Mallorca, purchases represent more than a third of expenditure. In terms of total spending, the destinations where German tourists spend the most are the Balearic Islands, Trentino-Alto Adige, the Dalmatian coast and Tyrol.
