Brazilian tourism earned R$ 25.5 billion in July 2026, the highest amount ever recorded for the month, with a growth of 2.6% compared to July 2025. From January to July, the sector's revenue reached R$ 168.8 billion, up 3.4% year-on-year, also a record for the period. Despite the positive results, FecomercioSP points to a gradual slowdown in growth, influenced by expensive credit, delinquency and the reduction in the purchasing power of families, factors that affect spending on leisure and travel.

Among the segments, air passenger transport led revenue in July, with R$ 8.1 billion and a growth of 3%. Food for tourism advanced 6.5%, reaching R$ 3.9 billion, while road transport grew 4.9%. On the other hand, lodging facilities recorded a drop of 1.4%, with revenues of R$ 5.6 billion, despite the 5.3% increase in the average daily rate, indicating challenges for the sector in the face of changes in demand and the containment of consumer spending.

Regionally, São Paulo maintained the leadership, with approximately R$ 7 billion in tourism revenues, about 40% of the national total considered in the regional survey. Bahia stood out for the highest percentage increase among the states with the most expressive revenues, with a growth of 18.7%, followed by Rio Grande do Norte, with 16.3%. Even in the face of the slowdown, FecomercioSP maintains the projection of growth of approximately 4% in tourism revenue in 2026, which could take annual revenue to almost R$ 300 billion, setting a new record for the sector
