Austrian Airlines has launched a new direct connection between Vienna and Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores, operated once a week until the beginning of September with an Airbus A320neo.
This is the company's first route to the Portuguese archipelago and the longest in its continental fleet, with about 3,770 kilometers and more than five hours of flight. The operation requires more complex planning due to the remote location of the Azores, namely in terms of fuel management and the definition of alternative airports.
