The Madeira Startup Retreat is an international acceleration program organized by Startup Madeira, with support from Turismo de Portugal, as part of the FIT 2.0 Program – Fostering Innovation in Tourism.
In this edition, the program aims to accelerate 10 technological solutions based on artificial intelligence and generative artificial intelligence, focused on specific challenges facing the sector. Among the highlighted themes are the personalization of shopping and experiences, inventory management, the simulation of training environments, task automation, and the analysis of behavioral patterns to support more informed decisions.
One of the program’s distinctive features is its strong connection to the local area. Through the participation of local hosts—residents who facilitate activities and share knowledge about the region—teams have direct contact with Madeira’s ecosystem, deepening their understanding of the local context, culture, and the destination’s dynamics. The program thus takes the form of a living laboratory, involving startups, companies, academia, and other players in innovation and tourism.
