This sector welcomed 1.5 million guests (+6.7%), who generated 3.3 million overnight stays (+6.9%). Residents continued to account for a slightly higher share, representing 51.8% of overnight stays, while overnight stays by non-residents posted the most significant growth (+10.3%).
Seasonality remained high, with July, August, and September accounting for 42.9% of overnight stays (1.4 million), above the national average for tourist accommodations (34.9%). The North (29.0%), the Alentejo (23.1%), and the Center (13.0%) together accounted for 65.1% of overnight stays.
Among the main international markets, Germany maintained its lead, with approximately 300,000 overnight stays, followed by France (184,000), Spain (168,000), the United States (158,000), and the Netherlands (143,000). Regionally, Germany led in the Alentejo, Algarve, Azores, and Madeira; Spain in the North, West, Tagus Valley, and Setúbal Peninsula; France in the Center; and the United States in Greater Lisbon.
