Gross Value Added generated by Tourism (GVA-T) stood at 20.1 billion euros, accounting for 8.1% of national GVA—also a record high in absolute terms. With these results, tourism maintained its growth trajectory and its role as one of the main sectors of the Portuguese economy.

In 2024, both GVA and CTTE recorded nominal growth of 6.5%, slightly outperforming the economy as a whole.

Using the input-output model, INE estimates that, in 2024, the total contribution of tourism to the national economy (which includes not only direct effects on tourism activities but also indirect effects on other sectors of the value chain) amounted to 34 billion euros, equivalent to 11.9% of GDP and 11.5% of national GVA.
