Tourism Satellite Account | 2020 (3)

It is estimated that in 2020, tourism consumption in the Economic Territory represented only 8.0 % of Gross Domestic Product and 4.6 % of Gross Value-Added.

Reflecting the negative effects of the pandemic on the tourism sector in Portugal, the National Institute of Statistics released the preliminary data of the Tourism Satellite Account, for 2020.​

According to the data released, it is estimated that, in 2020, tourism consumption in the Economic Territory represented only 8.0 % of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 4.6 % of Gross Added Value (GVA), representing a 50.4 % decrease in tourism consumption and a 48.2 % decrease in the Gross Added Value generated by Tourism, compared to the same period of 2019.
