In February 2026, tourist accommodation establishments recorded 1.8 million guests (+0.8%) and 4.2 million overnight stays (+1.3%). Among the main source markets, Brazil stood out with the highest year-on-year growth in overnight stays (+29.6%); and the Alentejo was the region with the largest increase in this indicator (4.2%).

According to the Bank of Portugal, the following trends are projected for the travel and tourism item of the balance of payments for February 2026:
In February 2026, the preliminary indicator for travel and tourism points to a 0.9% increase in exports compared to February 2025, reaching a total of 1,502.3 million euros. During the same period, imports rose by 4.6%, totaling 346.4 million euros.
From January through February, tourism revenues amounted to 3,099.0 million euros, representing a 2.0% increase. Imports, meanwhile, totaled 723.7 million euros, reflecting a 5.2% increase.
